Heath Ledger was a talented Aussie actor who ironically began his career playing a gay character in Australia. In 2005-6 Ledger became a permanent fixture in popular culture through his award-winning performance as Enis del Mar in "Brokeback Mountain." The buzz and Academy-Award nomination emerging from Brokeback overshadowed two other releases and brilliant performances from in the same year in "Brothers Grimm" and "Lords of Dogtown". In Dogtown, Ledger portrays the legendary skateboard champ, Skip Engblom. The gifted actor died in New York on January 22, 2008. Months later, his compelling performance as The Joker in "The Dark Knight" was released to critical acclaim and the highest grossing box office draw in history. His remarkable passion, beauty and talent will live on through his films.
For your consideration is the hero shirt worn by Heath as Skip. It is a vintage Levi's solid blue denim shirt in size large. It is clearly identifiable in the film. This shirt has been modified for the film with fading on the shoulders and longer vents on the side to give Heath more freedom while skateboarding. It would make a great display piece or a cool addition to a vintage wardrobe. It is also a bargain for a Heath Ledger fan, costing less than 20% of a similar Ledger shirts sold at auction! This piece has not been laundered since the production. It comes with the original costumer's tag and a certificate of authenticity.
May he who has brought us so many moments of joy, rest in peace.
